Williamsport 50501 is a group of people passionate about

making the kind of community we want to live in.
making that kind of community available to everyone.

Mission statement / statement of purpose

Williamsport 50501 exists to build community in the Williamsport, Pennsylvania, area by meeting the needs of our neighbors; fostering connections between people; and working for a place where all people can have the life, liberty, and happiness promised in our nation’s founding documents.

Our Goals

Connect People

Connect people who have something with someone else who can help them meet their immediate and/or long-term needs. It might be money, a skill, a tool, some food, a book, means of transportation, or any other thing that can be shared from one person to another. In short, our goal is to foster a community with mutual aid structures strongly in place.

Inspire People

Inspire people to take an active role in our local government so that our various governments at the local level reflect our community and help all of us live the lives we desire.

For everyone

When we say "everyone", we mean everyone.

We do not care about:

The color of your skin.
Where you were born.
How or when you got here.
The state of your health.
With whom or how you engage in romance or if you abstain from it entirely.
Gender or lack thereof.
The kinds of body parts with which you happened to be born, and whether or not you still have them.
Family status.
Education level.
Age.
Level of ability or degree of disability.
Incarceration status or history.
Language you speak. (We do things in English, but translation tools are easily available these days.)
The size of your bank account, investment funds, piggy bank, or mattress stash. Or the lack of any or all of those and anything similar.
What political party you are registered as.
Who you voted for in any election, or whether you voted at all.
